Frequently Asked Questions

No. All glucose readings, meals, insulin doses, and symptoms are stored exclusively on your iPhone using local storage. We do not operate servers that receive your health data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Go to Settings → AI Provider. You can connect Google Gemini for free using your Google account (Sign in with Google), or enter your own API key from any supported provider. AI features are optional — the core logging and dashboard features work without any AI setup.
Remove Ads is a one-time purchase that permanently removes banner and native ads from the History and Insights tabs. It does not expire and is tied to your Apple ID — you can restore it on a new device using Settings → Restore Purchases. All core features, safety features, and emergency contacts are free regardless of purchase status.
Open Glucose Compass on your new device, go to Settings → Restore Purchases, and sign in with the same Apple ID you used for the original purchase. Your Remove Ads status will be restored automatically.
Pip is your Glucose Compass companion — a scheduled reminder system that sends you friendly nudges to log your glucose and meals throughout the day. Set up Pip in Settings → Pip Reminders. You can configure reminder times, frequency, and the tone of the messages. Pip runs through iOS local notifications and does not require an internet connection.
The estimated A1C (eA1C) is calculated using the ADAG study formula (Nathan et al., 2008, Diabetes Care). It is an estimate based on your logged glucose readings only. Your actual lab A1C may differ. Always confirm your A1C with a lab test and discuss the results with your healthcare provider. Tap the ⓘ icon next to eA1C in the app for the full citation.
Your data is stored only on your device. To delete everything, go to Settings → Data → Delete All Data, or simply uninstall the app. Uninstalling removes all locally stored readings, logs, contacts, and settings permanently.
Camera access is used to photograph your glucose meter display or food labels when logging entries. Photos are stored locally on your device only and are never uploaded to any server. You can deny camera access and still use all other features of the app.
